A proven track record for getting parties to resolution
Experience
Marc Cote is an experienced mediator with a proven track record for getting parties to resolution. He has helped parties and their counsel successfully resolve numerous complex cases involving employment law, negligence, sexual abuse, insurance coverage, property damage, legal malpractice, serious personal injury, and business disputes. His employment law experience is vast, having successfully mediated more than 100 cases involving claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, and other employment issues.
Based on his almost two decades of class action experience, Marc is particularly adept at mediating class action matters. He understands the risk factors in class actions, class action settlement structure, and the unique concerns associated with class settlement approval.
Marc has a knack for assessing risk and helping parties make reasoned decisions to reach pragmatic resolutions. His listening skills, creativity, business understanding, and empathy for all involved help him guide parties toward settlement in challenging cases. His extensive litigation experience gives him an important perspective on how judges and juries see the legal and factual issues parties are confronting, providing valuable insight that he is able to share through the mediation process.
In his almost two decades as an advocate, Marc worked on cutting-edge employment law issues and achieved significant successes at the Washington Supreme Court that changed the legal landscape for employment rights in Washington. He has also advised small businesses on employment law issues and represented business professionals, lawyers, and doctors in employment and business negotiations and disputes.
Marc has been named to the Washington Super Lawyers list several times, and before that was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for many years. He often speaks on mediation and employment law at CLE seminars and law school classes.
